Building a Community That C.A.R.E.S
In early 2025, Impact North Shore launched a powerful public awareness campaign: #UnityInCommunity. Designed to encourage inclusion and connection in everyday life, the campaign reached more than 20,000 people across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn during February and March.
At its heart, the campaign invited North Shore residents to build a community that truly C.A.R.E.S.: a simple and accessible framework that encourages reflection, education, and action:
-
C – Connect & Reflect
Share stories, listen to others, and create space for diverse perspectives. Join local events, volunteer, or participate in inclusive programs. -
A – Appreciate Our Histories
Learn about different cultures, Indigenous history, and how our past shapes our present. Attend events, visit local museums, or explore your own heritage. -
R – Reject Racism
Be an active witness and stand against racism wherever you see it. Learn about allyship, unconscious bias, and ways to take action. -
E – Embrace Reconciliation
Honour Indigenous Peoples and learn about the land you live on. Study the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. -
S – Share Moments of Togetherness
Celebrate unity and cross-cultural connection. Post about your experiences using #UnityInCommunity.
The campaign helped residents reflect on their role in fostering inclusion, reminding us that small, daily actions can have a lasting impact. Through social media engagement, educational content, and positive storytelling, #UnityInCommunity helped spark conversations and inspire change.
At Impact North Shore, we remain committed to engaging the broader community in building an inclusive, equitable North Shore where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
