Recognizing Excellence in Our Community: Celebrating Leadership, Inclusion, and Impact

Creating inclusive and equitable communities is a collective effort, one that thrives through collaboration and shared values. As a for-purpose, social impact organization, we are proud to recognize and celebrate those on the North Shore who are driving meaningful change alongside us.

Excellence in Equity Award: Honouring Inclusive Business Leadership

In partnership with the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Impact North Shore is a proud sponsor of the Excellence in Equity Award, a category in the Chamber’s annual Business Excellence Awards. This award shines a light on businesses that are leading the way in building inclusive workplaces and contributing to a stronger, more equitable North Shore.

The 2024 recipient of the Excellence in Equity Award was Warrior Plumbing, an Indigenous-owned company that embodies values of cultural respect and economic inclusion. With a workplace culture grounded in belonging and community-building, Warrior Plumbing demonstrates that successful business practices can, and should, prioritize equity and reconciliation. Their work sets a powerful example of how business leaders can support a thriving, inclusive local economy.

Celebrating Outstanding Volunteers

In addition to recognizing local businesses, Impact North Shore celebrates the contributions of individual volunteers who go above and beyond in service to our community. Each year, we present two awards to highlight their exceptional dedication: the Excellence in Service and the Excellence in Community Volunteer Awards.

The 2024 Excellence in Service Award was presented to Taraneh Najvan, whose generous support across our Language, Settlement, and Youth programs made a lasting impact. Known for her dependable nature and positive attitude, Taraneh brought flexibility and care to every role she took on. Her willingness to support wherever needed reflects the spirit of community that Impact North Shore seeks to foster.

The 2024 Excellence in Community Volunteer Award was presented to Hamid Dadras, a leader in our Digital Literacy Program. Hamid played a key role in supporting the development of the program and supporting community members in gaining vital digital skills. Beyond his program work, Hamid actively participated in broader community initiatives – from job fairs and networking events to the North Shore Immigrant Inclusion Partnership’s Service Providers Forum. His leadership and collaborative spirit are truly commendable.

These awards reflect Impact North Shore’s belief that community transformation happens when we recognize and uplift those doing the work of equity, inclusion, and connection, whether through business leadership, volunteer service, or collective action. We are honoured to work alongside such inspiring individuals and organizations who help make the North Shore a place where everyone can belong and succeed.
