In response to the increasing mental health challenges faced by im/migrants on the North Shore, we have broadened our range of culturally responsive mental health programming. Our programs are offered to children, youth, adults, temporary and permanent residents alike and provide opportunities for im/migrants to build connections, share stories, and access resources that support their mental well-being. Together, we address common themes of im/migration including managing family separation, the stress of establishing a new life in Canada, and responding to the trauma associated with experiences of pre-migration and settlement transition. 1-1 and group sessions are offered in multiple languages and referrals are made to clinical therapy as needed. Fostering spaces of connection, safety, and understanding can offer significant opportunities for healing.

The support I received at Impact North Shore gave me back my life. I learned how to manage my anxiety and started feeling like I belong here. The support group made me realize I’m not alone, and that has made all the difference.
Our mental health services have had important and positive impacts, reflecting the strength and impact of this area of work for our organization. Over the last year, we have noted:
- 40% increase in mental health service utilization as our work to de-stigmatize mental health is taking root
- 70% of clients participating in our programs report reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety
- 70% of participants in our programs report a greater sense of community connection
By reducing the stigma and offering accessible, culturally sensitive support, Impact North Shore is enhancing the mental well-being of im/migrants. We believe that connection and safety are pre-requisites for belonging and thriving.
