Advancing Inclusion Through Partnership

At Impact North Shore, we know that building inclusive communities takes all of us. That’s why the North Shore Immigrant Inclusion Partnership (NSIIP), a collaboration of over 35 community organizations and institutions, plays such a critical role in improving im/migrant inclusion across the North Shore.

In 2024–2025, NSIIP brought people and organizations together through a series of impactful initiatives that supported civic engagement, cross-sector collaboration, access to services, and equity-focused education.

Leadership Through Civic Engagement

NSIIP delivered a six-week Board and Committee Diversity Training at the North Vancouver City Library. The program equipped im/migrants with governance knowledge and confidence to pursue leadership roles in local boards and advisory committees.

  • 15 participants gained practical governance skills.
  • All graduates expressed motivation to take on leadership roles.
  • Most are actively seeking board and committee positions.

By helping im/migrants access decision-making spaces, we’re working toward more representative and responsive leadership across the North Shore.

Strengthening Service Provider Collaboration

The North Shore Service Providers’ Forum, with the theme “Embracing Change: Building Our Collective Strength for Im/migrant Inclusion,” brought together frontline organizations to reflect, connect, and share strategies.

  • 60+ representatives from over 25 organizations participated.
  • 92% found the event very informative.
  • 100% reported meaningful networking opportunities.

This event reinforced the importance of collaboration in delivering strong, coordinated support to newcomers.

Supporting Access to Health and Wellbeing

NSIIP welcomed more than 200 attendees to the North Shore Health and Wellbeing Fair. This community-wide event connected im/migrants, families, youth, and seniors to health and wellness resources.

  • 22 non-profit organizations participated.
  • 100% of attendees found the event valuable.
  • 85% of exhibitors said they would return next year.
  • BC Cancer provided on-site assessments and self-screening kits.

This event helped ensure that everyone—regardless of language, culture, or background—can access services that support healthier lives.

Building Cultural Competency

NSIIP hosted a national Anti-Racism Training for service provider staff. Over 100 participants explored how to create inclusive environments through anti-racist language, bias recognition, and culturally responsive communication.

This initiative reflects NSIIP’s ongoing commitment to equity, helping organizations grow their capacity to serve diverse communities with care and respect.
