2023/2024 Chair & ED’s Message

The 2023-2024 fiscal year held many moments of significance, important learning opportunities, and occasions to collaboratively nurture well-being and belonging for all.

Over the last year, im/migrants to the North Shore have been accessing support in record numbers across our service areas including settlement information, orientation and referral services, English language learning, employment and school support, and community connections programming.  We have responded to the changing needs of im/migrants by launching new programs to support vulnerable clients, expanding employment and language services, and increasing both school and mental health services to ensure we are meeting the complex challenges faced by im/migrants and their families as they settle into our local communities.

Impact North Shore is proud to collaborate with many partners, and through our community engagement initiatives we work collectively to increase equity and belonging for im/migrants.   Highlights this year included delivering larger scale community events such as the North Shore’s first annual Newcomer Health Fair, our first im/migrant Volunteer Fair, and increasing engagement opportunities between employers and im/migrants in our highly successful Job Fairs and Employer Engagement events which connected over 900 im/migrants and 60 community partners and employers.

Another highlight for this year, was the success of the #STEPUpNorthShore Racism Response campaign. This campaign, organized by the North Shore Im/migrant Inclusion Partnership (NSIIP) and North Shore Anti-Racism Network, saw over 14,000 people interact with anti-racism education on social media.  The #STEPUpNorthShore campaign calls on us all to act decisively when faced with race and hate-based incidents.

Our work and successes are only possible with the motivation, dedication, and commitment of our staff, volunteers, community partners, and funders. Gratitude for all you contribute to Impact North Shore’s mission and much appreciation also to our Board Members for their outstanding contributions to our organization this year.
