During the 2025-2026 year, over 3,300 im/migrants improved their English language skills through language learning opportunities delivered across our network of services. As language proficiency increased, im/migrants shared they were more equipped to access community services, support their families, pursue employment and educational opportunities, and participate more fully in their communities.
Recognizing that every language learning journey is unique, im/migrants engaged in a range of formal and informal learning opportunities designed to meet diverse needs, goals, and stages of settlement and integration. Whether participating in structured language classes, conversation circles, volunteer-led conversation activities, or partner-supported language learning programs, im/migrants strengthened their English language skills while gaining greater confidence using official language English in everyday situations.
Through a combination of structured curriculum delivery, instructor guidance, targeted learning resources, and consistent opportunities to practice English, im/migrants were supported in the steady development of their official language skills. Access to learning materials, supportive instruction, and community-based language opportunities played an important role in reinforcing language development and fostering greater independence in daily life.
By providing accessible language learning opportunities and connecting im/migrants with a broad network of supports, we helped im/migrants strengthen their English language skills and build the confidence, independence, and sense of belonging needed to thrive in Canada. Their success reflects the broader impact of the program in equipping im/migrants with the language skills necessary for integration, participation, and long-term success in their new communities.
