Reducing Barriers to Labour Market Attachment: Empowering Youth to Gain Employment

Our new Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) program supported 95 youth, between the ages of 15 – 30, to access personalized employment counselling and mentorship services.

The YESS program offers information and resources to help im/migrant youth attach to the local labour market as well as group workshops on topics such as resume writing, time management, and interview skills. The program also provides individual needs assessment, career planning, and mentorship to support im/migrant youth through every step of their employment journey.

Through our partnerships with 80+ of local employers, youth started their careers in Canada by connecting to local job openings. YESS allowed the community to benefit from the talent that newcomer youth bring to Canada.

“Impact North Shore’s YESS program is the best service for young immigrants. It helped me make so many connections and friends, and learn a lot of valuable knowledge in a practical environment.”
