Our organization is committed to upholding the fundamental rights, value, and dignity of all people, striving to respect and honor all backgrounds and identities in our work. We recognize the complex relationships between im/migration, racism, colonialism, and Indigenous sovereignty; and believe that understanding our role within this context is the first step in creating transformative change. We strive to do so, committing to Anti-Racism, and to the work of Reconciliation as called for by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
Last year, we:
- created organizational equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and reconciliation statements
- developed an EDI action plan
- developed new and refreshed policies on EDI, inclusive purchasing, employment equity and sustainability
- provided staff training on active witnessing
- developed a framework for accountability reporting moving
As we move forward, we believe that transformation requires accountability, collaboration and the centering of diverse voices across all aspects of our work.
